The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Who the hell wants them in navy blue when they're supposed to be red (and white)?

I'd buy em (and colour em correctly).
I suspect it's been done so the red 'collectors' versions keep their value. Lame.

Not any more lame than guys dressing up pretending (possibly thinking) they are real Marines or USCM.

I think we might be talking cross-purposes ... my 'lame' comment was referring to my personal dislike of all things 'limited edition' as a means of over-charging for things I'd like to own and/or profoundly disappointing those that miss out [like me].

That said, re your comment - "Walts" in any form are bad for everyone [apologies, not sure what you call those guys in the US?]

Hmm, your comment might lack a little respect on this particular forum, don't you think ?

Rich has been here for awhile, and he's a Marine vet in real life, so I don't think he meant any disrespect. :)

I don't really understand the whole re-release in a different color thing....it wasn't in the movie. Are they even going to sell many of these?
Just sell the red & white movie versions and be done with it.

I don't understand that. Wouldn't it be better for the manufacturer to sell as many as possible?

If I had to guess, it is more about maintaining a standard. While I don't get it, the 'limited' shoe market is pretty big. If all of the sudden they back off now and make more of a previously 'limited' shoe, it could hurt their credibility next time they release a 'limited shoe'.

I suspect they know they underestimated the demand, and probably wish they had done it a bit less limited, but they made their bed and now have to lay in it or risk hurting their brand/credibility in the market.

So yeah, I believe Septic nailed it. Releasing them in a different color is an ok effort to get around that issue I guess. The thing that bugs me is how the alternate color is all over ebay for $200 already as if they are 'nearly as good' as the correct ones. They aren't. They are shams and poor alternatives requiring tons of labor and skilled work to make them acceptable. The price should reflect that. Pure silliness to think the 'wrong shoe' warrants those prices already.

Not directed at you, or some of the others.

I do think some of the members here are !@#*(&@!@#. The dress blues, the ribbons, on some level it pisses me off to the maximum. I get it, but part of me hates it. This is why I left this board for so long.

I think Aliens USCM cosplay should be limited to just the uniforms that saw screen time. Once some people branched out to uniforms that look like what real U.S. Marines wear, and uniforms that were never in the film, they crossed a line. That said, I do limit what threads I'll read now.

Forgive me for speaking out in a disrespectful manner. I don't know how to verbalize what I said above in a more tactful way.

Being here a long time, doesn't mean I am not a "dick" at times. I'll post this anyway. If I'm banned, fine. If not, fine. I will self-impose a limit to what I post on, props and replicas only. I'll stay away from anything cosplay related from now on.

I'm sorry you feel that way ONEYE; the vast majority of us realize this is just fantasy and we're just attempting to replicate the props and uniforms from one of our favorite movies. There is always going to be a natural progression to what "might have been", incorporating things that weren't seen in the movies but could have been. I personally don't have an issue with this, but obviously you do. I don't think there is a single person on this site that meant any disrespect to ANY member of the Marines or armed forces. As a matter of fact, I would think it was a compliment that there are this many !@#*(&@!@# people willing to put in this much time and effort, and I might add respect, to those that have actually served. That's just my 2 cents worth...

Too small for me. :( How much did these retail for in April? I can't remember.

Interesting. Unlicensed copies by the looks ...?
Site in general looks a bit dodgy to me (but maybe I just being 'Internet paranoid').

I have!

If you're looking for a shoe that you can wear out, don't get these. They are purely cosmetic/costume only. They're meant to vaguely look like Alien Stompers.

If you want a super accurate pair, don't get these. There's a few niggles like the grey straps aren't the kind that go through a loop and fold back over itself like the real deal does. The soles don't match, and there's no logos. They're made with vinyl/fake leather. The red pinstripe on the bottom of the foot is just a thin strip of red vinyl glued in place.

If you want a pair of shoes that are for "light wear" to bring together your Ripley costume, or just for display, GET THESE!

They offer custom size at no additional cost, free shipping, FAST production and delivery from China, and the customer service is fantastic.

I initially was leery at first too but when I saw that they accepted Paypal I knew if something went down I could probably have it resolved. Transaction was just fine.

This type of shoe is literally perfect for me, personally because it's lightweight, they're custom made to fit me with my Youth size 2 feet! And because I don't walk I can literally wear these bad b****es everywhere :delta:

(Pictured is only one because I was wearing the other while laughing maniacally)

I love them hahaha, but I'm starting to dubiously plan how to make them a bit more accurate... They're simple in construction. As far as I can tell they took like a canvas shoe as a base and made a new boot for the sole. Can't do much about the sole itself but nobody is going to see it really anyway.

I'm thinking I want to make the fold over/loop strap instead of the flat straps. I'm also going to try and make a digitized Reebok logo like on Ripleys and the red tongue label and have my Mom embroider them onto patches to sew or glue on.

I've no doubt that you will, cause you're excellent like that, but I'll ask anyways :) - please document as you go, I'd love some ideas around this (as I plan to get a pair at some [distant] point).
