Back at ny comic con 2013 I bumped into one of the neca sculptors . He took a bunch of pics of me in my smart gunner kit . I begged him to make a smartgunner . He said last year they were in the works trying to get the actors permission . I hoe they get them . How amazing would a two pack with drake and Vasquez in it !! I wonder what the procedure for getting the rights to use there likeness

I'm looking forward to the smartgunners. Vasquez, Drake or even Mr Rendar would be an instant buy.
But I wonder if this figure line is still healthy. Can't find Bishop or the Dog alien anywhere and they should be available since a few month.

That (July IIRC) was the earlier estimated launch date.

Well, for better or worse the procedure should be as simple as:
Step 1 - Contact talent about a deal
Step 2 - Pay talent for their likeness (back in the 80s Actors/actresses still controlled their likeness rights as they werent included in movie deals. So the talent and/or their 'people' could work out a deal independently and directly)
Step 3 - Profit (In Neca's case it will be about making 3-6 figures using that face).


Step 3 seems to be the problem for Neca. They like to milk multiple figures from guys they pay extra for the face of. I see two EASY Vaz figures (Smartgun rig, and most of the movie setup). Is that enough? Will that motivate neca to pony up the likeness cash to Golstein? That is the million dollar question (probably literally). Boy I sure hope so. Can they get two figure from Drake? Eh...acid burned flamethrower face may not be as good a seller as people think. You never know though.


*Pure conjecture, but I believe that is why we will likely never get an Apone. Al Mathews is a proud guy who stands by his principles. If he wanted the same cash as the other guys are getting, but Neca could only make the 1 figure of apone, then I am sure Neca balked at the price tag and bailed.
