Hi All, I have finally got round to sorting through some old VHS tapes today and was surprised to find that I actually had quite a lot of footage from when ALIEN WAR opened at the Trocadero in the early 90's. In the past I have looked on youtube and only found one or two features on AW and I believe that some of the stuff I have here is currently unseen on the web and would be of much interest to you all. I have already converted the tapes to digital and am all ready to upload the vids.... the question is.....Do I pay heed to youtubes laws on uploading material that i do not own?......or do I do what everyone else seems to do and just upload it anyway??? I don't wanna get in trouble over copyright nor do I want to offend/upset anyone by posting material without their permission. AlienwarDoug appears in several of the features and I have already sent him a PM asking his permission. Of course Jon Gorman and Gary Gillies feature heavily in them too. What do you think? Harry will know what's for the best?
There really is some good footage here and it would be a shame not to be able to share it.

I know Harry and Doug might be able to help. There may be some other AW peeps here who can assist, or maybe even grant permission.

Just because other people do something, doesn't mean you should. If that were the case, 80s fashions would not have died out!

I'd say that if they've already been shown on TV then you're in a better position than if you were uploading unseen footage; at least morally speaking that is.

Technically the shows still belong to the relevant TV companies of course so it's still potentially a risk to upload them, depending on whether the copyright owner wants to take any action or not of course.

I say upload it to youtube.
If they, meaning youtube, finds that your video is in violation
of copyright all that happens is they disable the video to be
watched. That's it. Nothing bad happens.

thanks for the replies guys..... I think like cooter says that the worst thing that can happen is that youtube will ask me to remove them.....although to be honest I was more concerned about p***ing individuals off by not asking their permission than what youtube might have to say.

Harry and David, I have no probs with this but be good to speak to john and Gary first, Gary is editing a new AW DVD for future sales so be nice to ask him first, so as not to pi-- him off Harry should have his number, or you can reach him on alien wars on myspace.

Right folks, it looks like it's gonna be better to hang on for a while before I upload the Alien War vids until permission is granted from the people involved, but I have set up a Youtube account and have uploaded a couple of other vids I have come across so far which might be of interest.

Yeah, nice one -- I know Trevor Steedman will be delighted to see that as he and Tip were quite good friends. Great that you kept that after all these years so at least now we know a little of what he was like, many thanks for sharing.

I remember that interview with Tip Tipping on Jonathan Ross chat show.... wasn't it shown just after Tip died ? and as a tribute to him as well ? I think he did a full body burn stunt as well on the show ? ( i think i might have that interview on my Video tape of odds and sods , will look when i get 5 minutes )

Great news everyone! I managed to get hold of Gary Gillies (Thanks Harry) and he has given me the thumbs up! he agreed that it would be great to get the clips on Youtube. As soon as I get back from work tonight I will upload the clips. Hope you all enjoy them.

They really should get round to developing Firefox for the Mac one day ....

95% of Firefox extensions (including this one) are platform agnostic.
