The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

Hi all

We have been asked if we would like to attend the War and Peace show at Hop Farm in Kent near Maidstone on Saturday 25th July. The show runs longer than this but for us it would be for just the day. It will be in conjuntion with the Movieum of London to help promote them and they will take care of organising access to the show.

http://www.thewarandpeaceshow.com/

This will be like any other show except we will be helping to promote the Movieum, passing out flyers etc.

There MAY be an attempt to put on a small show, like the Alien Encounter but this is something that is only an idea at the moment and I will keep in touch with Johnnie to try and help make it happen if it's possible.

Johnnie also mentioned the possibility of camping out the night before (Friday) as he is hoping to have some large military tents which I thought could be a good laugh.

At the moment we just need to get an idea of how many members are interested/able to attend. If your interested in the camping idea then please indicate that as well.

Friendlyskies YES - Camping YES

Cheers

Darren

I'll check the diary and let you know- its not too far a drive for me so would most likely not be camping over.

Claire and I will try and make arrangements, but we do have a prior engagement.
Hopefully we can do this as her parents live less than a mile away!!

Have just spoken to Johnnie about this one.

The show is all set and we WILL be able to camp on the Friday night. There will be a large tent with bunks in it apparently. I may take my son to this one and might pitch a separate small tent for me and him.

We need 100% confirmations from people going and their vehicle registrations if driving. Need these by tomorrow night please. This is so the passes can be organised.

We will be sharing a plot with the 101st Airborne apparently and the movieum are building a set of some kind. So basically, we will either be walking around the show and on the set during the day time.

Cheers

Darren

Perhaps not a great idea to be posting your number plates on a public forum:

PVB drives a 1999 Skoda Felicia Hatchback 1.3 LXi 5d

Claire drives a 1996 Vauxhall Corsa Hatchback 1.4 LS 3d Auto

BugStomper drives a 1998 Ford Fiesta 1.2 Zetec 5d

I'm sure it wouldn't take me long to find out your home addresses now. I think it's probably safer to PM Darren with your details.

Sorry to be a worrywart but it's the mother in me... ;)

Strangely enough, I PM'ed Darren my Reg for that very reason - Abe should go out only with my permission!

I've censored the registrations, and PM'd the original with numbers to Darren.

Which is worth more in insurance.

To be honest, I'd get all that info and more on an HPI check before buying a car anyway.
Nothing stopping anyone from doing the same just by seeing the car on the road.

However, for the sake of privacy - Good thinking, V!!

It's more that it's a route to your home address and the stuff within.

My car also doubles in value when I fill the tank, but I don't want Abe (and the hard disks holding his photo collection) going missing.

LOL! Most cars are worth more in insurance - even the new ones. I was thinking more of a case of someone knowing you're going to be out of the house on the 25th and won't be returning for at least a day. That's how people come back to find all their stuff missing and a Polish family is now living in their house.

OK... I lied about the Polish family. They may just as well be Russian. ;)

I'd actually say that the final list would be the last one posted in the thread, and not the one that Glenn decrees to be final. ;)

The more the merrier: people are still welcome to sign up to this event, or at least until Darren submits the FINAL list to Johnnie.

Yeah Gareth is right. Anyone can still sign up, of course, until the list is sent to Johnnie. After that you can still sign up but it's fair to say they won't be able to take their vehicle on site and may have to pay to get in.

Cheers

Richard, Could you PM me your Dad's name. The list has been sent with all the name. I'll try to add him to it. It might be OK as it's only one day late but any more I won't be able to.

Just thought I'd say that I'll be going to the show but I'll likely be going on the Thursday for a shopping day.

I don't know if there's a specific plan for the event and how many have been before, but if you don't know, it gets insanely hot. When I used to do airborne shows there, I'd spend a lot of time under tentage or in minimal clothing (normally denim battledress, for example) just to try and stay cool while I did work on field guns and things. It gets hotter than D*Con but with limited shade, and hydration can be a nightmare at the best of times (though I don't doubt the Movieum will do their utmost to keep you all drinking regularly!).

Also, be mindful of the dust! D:
