The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

If just ONE "big" thing about the game could be fixed by a mega-patch or added by DLC, what would it be? And no, you're not allowed to say "Everything".

Being the naive, deluded sycophant that I am, I'm gonna assume that any explicit bad glitches that remain after the recent patch and the slightly odd Alien controls (caused IMO by the inability to rotate the camera axis though the z-axis?) will be fixed in time anyway.

I would imagine the lighting engine would only ever get onto the PC version - rumours say it was canned because it wouldn't fit it into the memory of Xbox/PS3 and was too much work to implement for the small PC market...

Some of these are impractical and will never happen. But just imagine we had a magic-wand. With the backlash, I have no idea how much will be done beyond fixing glitches and already planned DLC (...discuss?).

No you don't - I edited it to add an option and it reset all the votes cast. I should really have been the one to know that ... sorry PVB.

The lighting would help loads with the feel of the game, but like you said, that's only feasible on the PC. If they kept the Red Ring engine around, anyway...

So I went with enemy AI. Just having the xenomorphs behave like xenomorphs would improve the game immensely.

EDIT: Better animations couldn't hurt either.

Chiming in, it'd have to be AI.

First off, AI updates can be applied to any platform, and were the biggest gameplay derp of the lot. Both allies blundering aimlessly through missions emptying magazines into walls, and aliens who would consciously run directly at you and never flank, or distract, or anything that makes them an actually interesting thing to fight.

Graphical improvements (A wouldn't really be implementable at any worthwhile level on consoles, and (B, can be modded by the fan community easily enough, given a few months there'll be graphics mods everywhere for it... AI on the other hand is a much loftier proposition, much better handled by the makers, and was the only Gameplay shortfall.

I think it's a little late for the AI in the campaign. It wouldn't really matter; I still think the story sucks so I'm going with campaign DLC. I'd like to see some kind of level more reminiscent of the film. What if a DLC was an actual scene from the film!? The Operations Last Stand or the Atmosphere Processor sequence? That'd be pretty sweet. I don't give a damn about Cruz or O'Neal or Winter, I'd rather see something with character's I've cherished my whole life.

Well that was part of the problem...very little character development. Would have been cool to have the first 10 minutes or so of the game spent on character development...back story to Winter...maybe an old friend of Hicks or Hudson...maybe a flashback scene to their basic training (instead of an in-game tutorial). Would have helped a lot.

So I voted enemy AI...otherwise the xenos just float around like butterflies.

There are rumors going around about a massive 8gb patch on the way. http://www.inentertainment.co.uk/201302 ... -incoming/

I have a feeling this came from a misunderstanding of sarcasm on twitter - an 8GB patch would be the same as replacing the whole game including every single asset and FMV sequence.

And that may not be a horrible idea. Though it sounds like it may just be a twitter joke...so no acutal patch.

From what I am reading, it sounds like there wouldn't have been as many issues if Gearbox had focused entirely on ACM instead of borderlands 2? So instead of a somewhat clunky game, it would have been more refined and with less issues. And I do agree that the hype surrounding ACM made it seem like it was going to be the next big thing.

It's a shame they worked on other games and put it on the back burner. Maybe they can devote some real dedicated development time to some solid DLC.

That would be nice. I am just hoping that all of the negative reviews and possible lack in sales doesn't hurt a sequel game.

Well if a sequel comes out and is a vast improvement it wouldn't be the first time. As I recall the first Assassin's Creed had something of a lukewarm reception if I'm not mistaken. The games that came after were all rated much higher.

I think it's about money, but the average rating around a 4 isn't going to help.

Good point, and yes, Assassin's Creed #1 was completely eclipsed by 2 and 3.

That is what I am afraid of...low ratings = low sales = no sequel :(

agreed, the dynamic lighting would be great. Otherwise the AI could use some work.

Firstly, Borderlands is a franchise that won GBX tons of awards and the sequel was practically guaranteed to make money. Of course they're going to focus on that IP. That said, they had different teams working on both of the games simultaneously, as do most developers. IMO it comes down to the people on the team, and as it has been pointed out, some were reportedly not as dedicated as others.

In terms of the PS3 I'd be happy with some improved dynamic lighting but there's one thing I'd like to see that a lit of games don't have and that's a mode whereby you can just walk around the whole game without being shot at etc. and just appreciate the surroundings and environment. I seem to remember the Rebellion AvP game had some kind of 'god' mode where you were effectively invisible to all your enemies. Something similar would be good for A:CM.

A lot of the design isn't fully appreciated while you're rushing through it with all guns blazing!

Harry

The only game that I'm aware of that has exactly what you're describing is a DLC for Operation Flashpoint Dragon Rising where you can explore the entire island unmolested.

I wish I could have selected "All of the above". But overall, I've been really liking the game. Additional campaign elements and smarter allies are my top picks.

I voted for additional campaign missions. Didnt really notice how bad the AI was until I saw the video.

I think it would be cool if they added a combat knife and an option to turn HUD off. It would be cool running around knifing zenos to death.

Yeah, cos sticking a knife into something with acid for blood couldn't go badly  and cost the marines a hell of a lot in knives.
