The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

I finally saw the dog alien in person, it's as dissapointing as the Bishop figure. Maybe it's better out if the box. Kane on the other hand was mighty tempting! The eaten-through face plate was really well done.

There have been numerous reports of paint still being 'tacky'/wet out of the package. I had one of those figures. His one leg was noticeably shinier than the other and when I opened it I realized the blue paint was rubbing off on my hand. The red from his 'stompers' also rubbed off a bit. Not all of them have the paint issue though.

I was also a bit disapointed in the final sculpt. He looks a bit "dumpy" to me. His mid section is a bit thick while his shoulders are too slanted. I don't expect Bishop to look 'heroic' but I didn't think it looks like Lance's body.

That actually surprises me that you weren't impressed with the dog. I am not a particular fan of that design, but I actually thought the dog figure was very well done. The articulation and sculpt were pretty spot-on. I def agree with you about Kane though. It was the figure I was least excited about but it turned out to be my favorite of the 3.

I had just heard so much praise for the new dog alien and then when I picked it up I remembered I don't like that bloody design at all. Never have. They could make a super lifelike Newborn and I wouldn't want that either. So that's really just my own bias.
Bishop on the other hand was just the saddest end result imaginable. Bigbisont hit all the major points (although I didn't buy one to see if the paint was wet). There are photos of Lance looking exactly like this sculpt, but there are far more flattering ones too. It just seems like a sad crosseyed toy to me...

I have no problem with ky bishop, though when you use flash photography, the paint scheme on his face makes him looks silly. And for what it's worth, the armor plates on kane were a bit tacky when I took him out of the box.

Overall, I'm happy with the neca series. I'm not impressed at all at Chinese workmanship.

Absolutely. I grumble at the stuff I don't like, but with the Marines for example evetything I don't like can be fixed with a spot of paint. You can't say the same about McF's Hicks.

I had no problems . My Kane was a bit tacky on the suits armor . Besides that my figures were perfect .

That's a great likeness of Ripley!

But the red and black genocide warriors...are those just repacks?

Not so interested in the genocide repacks. I thought it was a fun set the first go-round. Not feeling a re-release though.

Oh well, Ripley does look good! When you say "w/pulse rifle and flamethrower combo" was that an official Neca thing? Or did you add that to differentiate that moment in the movie from the other Neca figures?

I have been tooting the "the whole weapons thing is overblown" horn regarding Weaver and her figures (I have argued weapons are NOT the sole reason for lack of figures, but rather her difficult camp/"people" to get to her is the problem). The moment of truth is nearly at hand!

The text in Willie's post was a quote from a web site given exclusive access to the Series 5 line up, so Ripley will have the PR/flame unti combo. :)

I'm going to declare 'BS' on anything and everything Randy says about "can't get..." regarding likeness rights.

Carrie Henn is pulling a teacher's salary. She joked about selling her "citizenship award dress" (which she still has) to Bill Paxton. Lets ignore the fact Bill stated he wanted to buy a little girls dress and focus on Carrie being open to a few extra bucks.

Lets also not forget when a Randy said they "couldn't get" Goldstein and a member here contacted Jeanette. Jeannette said they never even contacted her!

When Randy says he "couldn't get" someone, he really means they have no plans to try. I get that its his business and he has probably calculated costs of a likeness vs anticipated sales and come to his determinations, but continually passing the buck as if it's the talent's fault why figures arent being made is scummy.

As for Drake and Vaz, it comes up on twitter constantly so far no dice. (lots variations of "we can't get them" )
