The discussion of the Alien series of films and the props used in them is the aim, but if it's got Big Bugs and Big Guns, then they are welcome too!

That's a great idea that NECA had with those "egg cartons". Great way for fleshing out some nice dioramas. Man, my space for ALIEN/S related action figure stuff is really getting crowded, and I haven't even gotten the NECA Queen yet...

Yeah I hear that. I have healthy chunk of wall in my basement marked off for Aliens stuff that has already overflowed to other walls. It seems the overflow will not stop any time soon. Good! I think...

From the original 1979 movie that shocked audiences and jump-started a legendary film franchise, the Xenomorph known to fans as “Big Chap” gets the deluxe treatment!
This incredible action figure stands over 22” tall, and has a hinged jaw that opens, revealing an inner mouth that extends for realistic movie action. It has almost 30 points of articulation, including double knee joints and a bendable tail, and extra attention has been paid to all the eerie details that made H.R. Giger’s designs for Alien so mesmerizing.

So...much...goodness. I have Kane and Bishop on their way to me just now and ALIEN Ripley, Space Suit Ripley and Dallas preordered.
Queen, Powerloader, ALIENS Ripley and the eggs will also have to be preordered soon and so will the 22" Big Chap. Here's the display so far, will definitely have to expand for all the good things coming.

McFarlane Hicks is just a placeholder for Kane, Dallas and the ALIEN Ripleys and there is still a spot for Bishop in the ALIENS display.
(Note the ALIENS LEGACY website reflection in the glass...)

Bishop and Kane arrived today. My Bishop had one lazy eye, otherwise great figures. Oh, and Bishop's leg keeps popping off the joint, but no breakage, only loose joint, so yeah.
But how come both figures are sticky to the touch and Kane even leaves dark smudgy residue on your fingers? Every single figure must have this from what I've seen and read online... strange.

Shame that Kane can not be posed kneeling down, arms raised to his helmet in terror. He just stands calmly with his face tightly hugged. ;)
Also, Kane is unexpectedly huge.

Neca have been telling people to return (to the retailer) the faulty paintwork figures for replacements.

Guessing something when wrong in the paint shop?

The American train manufacturer Lionel trains had a similar problem with their trains a few years ago. Essentially, the factory wasn't waiting long enough for the paint to dry before they placed the product into the packaging which allowed for the paint to remain tacky and even come off. Unfortunately it sounds like a common factory problem with some Chinese factories

I just picked up a Bishop during my lunch break. I haven't opened him yet, but here's hoping there's no problems.

As for the tacky paint issue....will this dry-up/cure if left out of the package long enough?

Is there an actual NECA message board anywhere?

That's what some people wrote and what I hope is what'll happen. I'll let mine stand around untouched for a couple days and tell you guys once mine stop being tacky.

I don't think so Willie. I seem to recall that's one of the reasons McFarlane shut down one part of it's message board....because McF wasn't making the stuff people wanted but NECA was and people were using his board to talk about NECA because they didn't have their own board.

I opened Bishop last night, no paint problems but man, for all the articulation they gave him he sure can't move very much.

.....and I just snapped off one of his arms trying to bend it at the elbow....F&*K!

What is the point of having articulation if it's hindered by clothing???

Now how the HELL do I fix this?!

If the joints are stiff i find using the wife's hairdryer to gently heat allows them to move easier. There are NECA page's on fb (fan ones but NECA still post on them as well

Any stiff/stuck joints get a quick bath in a mug of hot water or a shower from the kettle in my house.

Only had a problem with the Big chap though, had to replace one of his elbows with a ball joint from a HALO figure.

Cheers,
Doug

I just checked in on my bishop after he was on the shelf a couple weeks. He did dry up and is no longer tacky for whatever that is worth.

Same here, my Bishop is fine now. My Kane, on the other hand... whole different story. Backpack is still tacky and has some weird residue on it (like secreted resin...but secreted by what?). I will just let him stand in the glass case untouched in that one pose and be done with it.
It's the first Neca figure I bought after MANY that had this particular issue so no biggie.

Dab the residue off with a tissue or something to prevent it from staining. Sounds like the paint wasn't mixed properly.

Yeah, will do. It gets less and less sticky over time, it seems, but gently wiping off that stuff is the way to go.

Pretty funny, my Bishop suffers the same eye issue and my Kane left some paint residue as well... Felt like they made them in a hurry ! It is also a pity that Kane position cannot be adapted to the situation ;-)

Yeah, Kane's articulation is much more of a problem, no way to pose him kneeling down in agony, hands raised to his face. But yeah, still a great sculpt.
Hurried production because we all wan more, and we want it fast.
